Gaye Olesen (Chair) introducing Lorraine Brodrick
On Monday 4 September Lorraine Brodrick, a local garden designer, spoke to the Club on ‘Gardening in a changing climate‘.
Lorraine asked gardeners to considering alternative plants that will survive heat, such as silver foliage plants, or heavy rains and other weather events.
As well as a reminder of the importance of mulching, composting and water harvesting, Lorraine introduced new (to most of us) ideas such as Hugelkultur mounds and rain water gardens.
Lorraine ended with some design tips on how to make gardening less stressful, particularly in later life.
At the end the chair reminded everyone on the upcoming wine tastings, on 9 October, and immediately 30 people signed up.
