Stonesfield Open Gardens on Sunday 23 June was a great success. The weather was perfect and the gardens were in tip top condition.
Over 160 visitors (15% up on 2022) paid to tour the 11 gardens on show. It was gratifying to see that visitors came from far and wide as well as from the local area. Car parking was a bit tight, but everyone just about fitted in.
Many volunteers had baked cake and then help serve cake, teas and cold drinks at the St James’ Centre. People must have enjoyed this as takings on were up 45%. Additionally, visitors boosted the White Horse coffers as they enjoyed a drink in the sunshine.
Visitors also donated £100 for book and plants that were available. Overall, we collected £1,500 (before expenses) which was far in excess of expectations.
At the end everyone who had helped was invited to Evenlode for a celebratory drink in the evening sunshine.
The committee would like to thank everyone who participated in any way.
