Our February meeting started with the Annual General Meeting which was attended by more than 30 of our 50 members.
The treasurer outlined our financial position (attached), which is good enough for us to make a substantial donation to the Stonesfield Scouts for their new hut fund.
We elected a new committee and said goodbye to Sybil Barton and Gill Barrett, both standing down after years of service and each was presented with a gift to thank them.
After the formalities, Genny Early and Gill Barrett gave us an interesting illustrated talk about the wild flowers that are growing on Stonesfield Common, in particular the rare meadow clary, and what the local working groups (and the sheep and cows!) are doing to encourage them. Long standing residents could remember a time when the orchids in particular were far more numerous.
In March we have Timothy Walker coming to talk to us about how we can adapt our gardening to the demands of the 21st Century – should be very thought provoking.
