Our May meeting was a stimulating talk about bees, in particular wild bees, by Filipe Salbany, who works as an ecologist at Blenheim and has been instrumental in finding the dozens of colonies of wild bees that have made their home in the numerous lovely old oak trees on the estate.
Wild bees have been on the planet for millions of years, whereas the honey bee we know, kept in hives, has only been around since the 1600s. Filipe is a passionate advocate for nature and a strong voice for the importance of putting nature’s needs front and centre of all we do.
This was a talk for the brain as well as the heart!
