There was a good turnout for the Gardening Club’s Christmas Social & quiz on Monday 8 December at the St James’ Centre.

The committee had work hard preparing the food and drink for the evening. Mulled wine, plus plates of cake, mince pies and other delicious treats, everyone was well looked after. Following some preliminary chatting, we all settled down for the quiz, prepared by committee member Dr Lauren Baker. This was a resounding success. Feedback afterwards was

‘Great evening and brilliant quiz. Thanks to all involved.’

‘It was a great evening & so friendly.’

‘Wish I had taken down all the “where do I come from” answers though, if asked again today, I would not remember many answers!!’

‘Thank you for a lovely evening everyone.’

‘It was a very jolly evening and many thanks to all who had a hand in it.’

‘Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.’

‘I thought the quiz was perfectly pitched and had something for everyone, whatever their specialist knowledge (or lack of ….!)’

‘Everyone thought it was a great evening so big pats on the back …’

‘Well done to Lauren for the interesting quiz. Who knew carrots came from Afghanistan!’

‘Thanks to Lauren for a very educational quiz – think we all learned something!!’

If you missed it this year then there will be another Christmas Social & quiz on Monday 14 December at the St James’ Centre. In the meantime we have lots of interesting talks, a wine tasting and garden visit planned for 2026. Plus of course plant sale in April and Open Gardens in June.
